moves: insanity update

I should be jumping down–but I’ve done enough of that already. I’ve officially completed 6 weeks of the Insanity program, and my dogs are barking. It’s certainly been an interesting journey thus far, and now I’m three weeks shy of finishing the program.

For those not familiar, Insanity is a Beach Body program (like P90X) that is split into two months. Each Phase has six workouts a week with one rest day.

Phase I is used to get you ready for the second phase, where the real work begins. I completed Phase I successfully and, with the advice of my coach, tacked on another week of the program. (I traveled to Boston and didn’t want to start my Max workouts there, so adding another week worked well for my schedule.)

Phase II is a whole other animal. The workouts not only get longer but harder. The moves are done in more succession with less water breaks. As I said to a friend last night, I haven’t felt this tired since participating in high school sports. I nearly collapse from fatigue with each session, but it’s that good kind of tired–the kind where you really know you’re working hard.

At the risk of sounding like an advertisement, let me end by saying: I was not paid to write this review. I just have to share this program with others. Since starting it, I’ve gotten four other people on the bandwagon. It’s hard. It’s tough. But it’s worth it. I’ve never challenged myself more nor been so proud of what I’ve accomplished.

At the end of all of this, I am hoping to post Before & After photos–something I’ve never really done on a blog before. That’s how powerful this program is. I am actually considering posting pictures of myself in a sports bra. Yes, that’s big time.

For now, I am going to take this Friday off and rest.

Interesting. I’ve thought about trying it out. I’m in okay running shape, but not that great shape otherwise, if that makes sense. I did some jumping squats and [very low] box jumps yesterday and thought I would die.

YES. I know exactly what you mean. That’s where I was before starting the program. I could run 6 miles no problem but couldn’t do one pushup. This has definitely increased my strength all around.
